El Mahroosa, translates from Arabic meaning “The Protected” or “The Guarded” and Egypt is often referred to El Mahroosa The first yacht that was ever built in Egypt in 1869 and it is the oldest active yacht in the world. El Mahroosa was built for Khedive Ismail the ruler of Egypt by the Samuda brothers, who were British shipbuilding pioneers. El Mahroosa was designed by Oliver Lang, who also designed Queen Victoria of England’s first steam yacht.

On August 6, 2015, El Mahroosa was the first ship to once again cruise the Suez Canal when it reopened.

 

Today, the owners of El Mahroosa have brought a bit of Egypt to Orange County. Come experience El Mahroosa for yourself!
